I work as process safety engineer in the advisory department for Statoil. We provide solutions to the issues of process safety in the oil and gas production. Currently I am also involved in the commissioning (start-up) of modification projects. I have worked for numerous platforms on Norwegian continental shelf. The best part of my job is that in 40 years from now I will be able to claim that I was part og Norway's legendary oil history.
My degree gives me the flexibility to work in various industries that require processing. Some examples are oil&gas, chemical industry, pharmaceuticals, food industry etc.
I am originally from Pakistan and I have lived in Norway (not consecutively) for 27 years. I went to St.Olav videregående skole Stavanger and finished my IB in 2002. Today I am married and have three beautiful children. In my spare time (if I get any) I do aerobics and yoga. I'm also an active member of rødekors and work voluntarily as 'besøkvenn' once a week. My native language is Urdu but I speak fluent Norwegian and English. I am also active member of JCI (Junior Chamber International). It's an organization working for the development and personal growth of young leaders for the enhancement of their leadership skills. My advice to younger generation is that it's important to set the sail of your life journey as early as possible. Time flies quicker than you think.
